GFWC Signature Project-Domestic Violence Awareness

Help in the fight to end domestic violence by raising awareness about this social issue through legislation, projects that support national and local organizations, and support of local shelters. Areas of focus include Intimate Partner Violence, Child Abuse, Teen Dating, Campus Sexual Assault, Elder Abuse, Violence Against Native American Women, Military Sexual Assault, and Human Trafficking

Arts & Culture

Promote and support art and cultural programs in the club and community.  Create projects that include crafts, dance, drama, food, music and other manifestations of art and culture.  Examples include Festival of Trees decorations, handmade cards, raffle baskets, photo contest, craft nights.

Community Improvement

Make a difference in your community by caring for and beautifying the Swasey Park pavilion, parks, bike paths, dog parks and other local gathering places.

Environment

Encourages us to become stewards of the Earth by working to preserve the world's resources, protect wildlife and domesticated animals, live sustainably, and beautify our communities and enjoy nature.  Examples include coastal clean-up, recycle bags, adopt a garden and plant trees.

Helping others while continuing to learn.  Projects promote libraries, literacy, and the love of a good book.  Through these efforts, we encourage the growth of individuals and communities at home and around the world.  Examples include scholarships, books for schools and libraries, book clubs, after school activities and tutoring.

Fundraising

All non-profit organizations need money to fulfill their missions.  EAGFWC works on many fundraisers, such as our annual Yuletide Fair, to support our overall community.

Health & Wellness

Explore the various opportunities for awareness and advancement of nutrition, disease prevention, and physical and emotional care.  Examples include nursing home gifts, birthday bags and food pantries.

Advocates for Children

Make a difference in the life of a child by being an advocate.  Envision ways to provide a voice for children and teach and encourage parents and other caregivers to advocate for children at the grassroots level.

 

Membership

Retain and recruit new members while sharing friendship at meetings, mentoring, new member nights and leadership development initiatives.

Civic Engagement & Outreach

We are all part of a larger society and are responsible for undertaking actions that will create a better quality of life and foster a sense of community-locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.  Highlight and encourage citizenship; crime prevention, safety and disaster preparedness; helping the needy, hungry and homeless; and supporting our military personnel and veterans.  Examples include candidates' night, support troops & their families, VA hospital, food pantries, homeless shelters, Seacoast Family Promise.

Public Policy

Let our voices be heard through legislation, representative communications, school board and town meetings.

Communications & Public Relations

Toot our EAGFWC horn by creating and distributing press releases, as well as promotional posters and brochures.  Keep our website and Facebook page current.

Socials

Let's have some fun!  Join the group for movie nights, kitchen tours, pot luck dinners, shopping, wine tasting, games, holiday parties, luncheons, children's events, comedy nights and plays.

Women's History Project

EAGFWC believes in preserving women's heritage by archiving important papers and club history through local historical preservation groups and GFWC headquarters.
